Package: dh-make
Version: 0.41
Severity: normal
Hi,
thinking about the reformatted kernel-module postinst template again, I
realized that invoking /etc/init.d/#PACKAGE# is a policy violation:
3.7.0.0 Apr 2006
* packages that invoke initscripts now must use invoke-rc.d to do
so since it also pays attention to run levels and other local
constraints. [ 9.3.3.2 ]
Looking for the pid file ourselves is not a good idea, either.
Furthermore I don't know whether update-devfsd is still necessary. (I'm
using udev and don't even know, whether devfs is still functional.)
Perhaps in backports.
And loading the module with modprobe might be a better job of the init.d
script, too. Perhaps a comment should be added to the template.
Andreas
