Please drop the file /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/40-kde-plasma-kf5.conf from the plasma-workspace bin:pkg.
This lets Plasma become the default desktop in LightDM greeters and this enforces this disregarding the Debian mechanism of setting up a default (X)Session (via update-alternatives system).
As you already of an alternative setup for x-session-manager in place, removing the hard-coded enforcement (which looks wrong by the way anyway) should be of no harm.
