No, the problem is that lilypond itself is partly written in python, and expects python 2.4 to be installed, and expects to be able to call python "python". If I were told by the python-defaults maintainer that the change to python 2.4 can't happen for a long time, then I could figure out a workaround. But at the moment, he is simply ignoring my email.
