Thanks for your bug report! The libervia manual pages are pretty outdated, unfortunately.
Upstream plans to generate them automatically from the current documentation before the 1.0 release, so this will be fixed soon! Anyway, the automatic start of libervia-backend should work, thanks to D-Bus activation. I'll look into that these days.
