I succesfully use IWD on an AMD64 laptop with kernel 6.5.3.

I suspect that this issue is more likely tied to your specific wifi
device and the kernel support for it than to the Debian packaging of
IWD, and I therefore encourage you to contact upstream to have them help
you debug the problem.
