Hi,

I've detested the MS monopoly since '95 - which is when I found that
they are very much an anti-developer as well as anti-consumer monopoly:
and very much anti-unix.

Looking on their site to brush up on what I'm competing against I find:

        http://msdn2.microsoft.com/library/y23kc048.aspx

If you can't find the link (it's designed to be transient) I found it by
browsing ms developement, ms library, msdn, Visual C++, porting from
unix. There is a link for using MS C++ to compile to multi-platform: it goes
to "not found" of course ;)

What I was looking for is if there were any links offering MS
developers ways to directly "steal" linux code. Didn't find anything so
blatent (yet, is the keyword).

BUT! Something new (and sinister)! Bogus links derriding unix or
providing phony dope on unix. But more. downloadable MS unix support.

1)
        http://boost.sourceforge.net/regression-logs/
This MS site is building /compiling an MS-Only GCC - without
        offering source code.

!!!!!!!!
!!!! They are apparently trying to do the whole thing under
their OWN "Boost C++" licence free of GNUPL license - so that
        they will "own" GCC !!!!
!!!!!!!!

2)
as allways, there is much derriding of unix and specifically,
linux on the site: and just plain intentionally false
information - which in the U.S.A. is quite illegal (though MS
has more legal wiggle room than any entity in the US - since
many are under the impression that MS *is* computers and MS is
necessary for the US economy - mostly due to lack of good press
of unix in the US, I think.

We both know these are "abominations". We both know that it isn't legal
to offer false information on a competitor's product. It isn't legal to
relicense GNUPL software.

And God knows how much of Windows XP / Windows 2000 was stolen from Linux.
For exmaple: IPSEC is in Windows 2K and uses Kerberos and in linux. I
might be wrong but I beleive Kerberos is GNUPL and written by a german
student. For example: multiple desktops. Of course, we all know that
the reason WM_MOUSE application message is the same in MS Windows and X
Windows is that MS stold Xerox's code and altered it. Xerox sued, but
lost the lawsuit.

The question is: has microsoft put their foot far enough into
the bucket to call them out on it?

But there is no doubt: as soon as MS can, they will steal and relicense
all of linux that they find pleasureable to plunder. Where possible,
they will use this plunder to attempt to discontinue Unix and Linux from the
face of the earth.

Have Fun!

(And how can you with an MS EULA that comes with your new
Visuall C++ kit telling your code isn't yours to publish because it
contains MS inserted "licensed" material?) ... its pure evil.
