Hi,
Yes, patches are applied too late in the process to support
them modifying the kernel version. Currently, the first step taken by
make-kpkg is to create a ./debian; and this involves also creating
./debian/changelog.
Applying the patch manually before invoking make-kpkg works
quite well.
The second part of the bug report is about a user error; since
somehow the debian revision was set to -mattia.
Support for this feature seem to require very hackish kludges.
