Hi

I am currently observing the thread on debian-devel :)

Do you see any case where this might fail?

Stopping is done with the provided lsb functions and I guess it is running
quite fine.

start-stop-daemon --oknodo --stop --quiet --pidfile $PIDFILE
    rm -f $PIDFILE

Therefore I currently don't see a reason for changing it as stopping is
working.
But of course I am curious to read the other follow-ups to the thread on
debian-devel.

Greetings
Steffen
