Package: gitaly Version: 16.0.7+ds1-2~bpo12+1 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer,
In the gitaly package, the main daemon binary /usr/bin/gitaly apparently has no manpage. Such a manpage would ideally explain what the binary is and what the daemon command line arguments are. If there is a config file, the daemon manpage should document it or refer to a dedicated manpage for that file (in section 5). Having manpages for all installed binaries, and especially those in /usr/bin and /usr/sbin, has traditionally been a major Debian feature, and is required by section 12.1 in the Debian policy manual. This applies even to binaries that are documented in other formats such as html or texinfo. For inspirational examples, see the man pages for git-daemon(1) and nginx(8). -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.0 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable'), (100, 'bookworm-fasttrack'), (100, 'bookworm-backports-staging') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-10-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_IE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_IE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_IE:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages gitaly depends on: ii gitlab-common 16.0.7+ds1-2~bpo12+1 ii libc6 2.36-9 ii libgit2-1.5 1.5.1+ds-1 ii pipexec 2.6.1-2 ii procps 2:4.0.2-3 gitaly recommends no packages. gitaly suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
