Yes. Actually, it is disabled by another property.

You can enable it by yourself in /etc/mozilla-firefox/pref/firefox.js,
or in about:config or in the preferences panel.
You can also go in the extensions manager, and click on update to
request updates by yourself.
I tag this bug as wontfix, since I disabled auto update on purpose, it
is still enableable, and you can still force an update even if disabled.
