Just as a note, the ubuntu debdiff also includes 50_joystick.diff, which increases the number of axes & buttons available on a joystick, required for support for the Saitek X52 Flight Control System (with 34 buttons & 11 axes). I used even larger values, thinking I might also add a button board or something later (I like having lots of non-keyboard controls). It is not strictly necessary to fix the crash bug. It was based on the CVS patch adding support for the X45.
