Indeed, that's what I'm wondering. Note that in the Ubuntu bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1991418) Remi said that he could see the problem in Sid, but failed to reproduce with a custom rebuild of VLC. I haven't tried a local package rebuild just yet to see if that's all that's needed. I may try one shortly unless you beat me to it. Will be great if so.
