I agree with you. Just to clarify, when you disable the account it shows a little error box/button at the bottom of the buddy list, and you click on that and THEN it shows the dialog, right? Also, is the Jabber connection trying to establish a connection when you disable it? It's almost like the Jabber code that writes to the socket is blocking, and when the account is disabled the fd is closed and the write fails with an error.
