* What led up to the situation? I was configuring bind9 and read /etc/bind/named.conf which said to read /usr/share/doc/bind9/README.Debian.gz before configuring bind. That file does not exist, which confused me. I subsequently discovered that the file is /usr/share/doc/bind9/README.Debian (i.e. no .gz suffix).
