Of course there is nothing
wrong with the Terminus package! Some further research resulted in the real cause of my problem. In the bug-reports archive (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=xfonts-terminus&archive=yes) there was a report stating the same problem I had: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=xfonts-terminus&archive=yes It turned out that enabling bitmapped fonts does the trick. In my case that was done by uncommenting <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts</dir> from /etc/fonts/local.conf. Afterwards the terminus font worked but some other fonts changed to there bitmapped versions. This probably is the reason for this function to be turned off by default in Sarge. If not, than why not turn it on? I hope this helps for whoever experiences the same problem, so this report can be useful after all... Kind regards, Jouke |
