Hi,

I have taken the responsibility of the package cron, and use part of my
free time to clear the bug heap.

The bug report which you posted more than four years ago is correctly
documented, and the patch coming with it was still relevant, even after
the changes made in cron during those four years, thank you for that.

Now, here are my questions:

- first, do you still support your bug report now? Do you need to build
systems without syslog, and with cron?

- the changes which allow cron with or without syslog are now pushed at
the head of the master branch, in
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/cron, and you can download the debian
packages from the artifacts created by the continuous integration
system, at least the packages cron and cron-daemon-common; see:

https://salsa.debian.org/debian/cron/-/jobs/2984964/artifacts/download?file_type=archive
Please can you download those packages, install them and make some
tests? Thank you in advance for your feedback about it.

- please can you also review the changes which occured between tag
"debian/3.0pl1-147" and the current head? I had to add a few changes
to your work, as four years have passed since you created your patch.
Those changes can be viewed in a web interface, at

https://salsa.debian.org/debian/cron/-/compare/debian%2F3.0pl1-147...master?from_project_id=32031&view=parallel

Thank you in advance for your response.

Best regards, Georges.
