Howdy,
On closer review, this patch isn't actually needed at all since 2012[0][1], so
I'm not really sure why it's there in the first place.
The output now without the patch (and not updating to the latest) is:
Latest version: 2022.05.18, Current version: 2022.04.08
ERROR: It looks like you installed yt-dlp with a package manager, pip or
setup.py; Use that to update
Which seems more useful than the current text anyway, as it tells you the latest
version. One could argue that it "phones home", but with -U you already to do
just that anyway.
I may just drop the patch instead.
