Considering that upstream rejected that proposal, I'd be very careful at implementing this in Debian. First, it would set a precedent at Debian taking position in that political space and second it would mean carrying that patch around for ourselves, which is extra work for us. So I don't think we should do this, but I will let other maintainers weigh in before I close this issue. a.
