hmmm... i've been trying to rereproduce the exact same problem but i failed.

in fact, it's weird... keep reading...

first, i've been able to run into problems in two situations:

1- once mail-notification is running and that you've received new mails,
read them, refreshed mail-notification (no new mail) and then receive a
new mail.

but the nature of the problem varies.

the different problems i observed:
- - it goes into infinite loop without showing the new mail icon
- - it simply crashes
- - it triggers the post-reception-command but doesn't show the icon.
forcing a refresh of the systray in any way will make the icon appear.

2- i also observed that if mail-notification tells me that i have new
mail and that it receives another new mail: displaying the info shown by
the mouseover will reveal an error message saying it can't connect to
the server.

when in that state, trying to reach the properties window will crash
mail-notification. when restarting it, i get an error message like
"free(): invalid pointer 0x8141df0!".

Before going any further, i wondered if i would get the same problems
with the unofficial package from Lior Kaplan.

So i installed it and tried to reproduce any of the problems, didn't occur!!

That left me wonder... i then decided to desinstall Lior's package and
reinstall mine.

Guess what, i was then unable to reproduce the problem...

And since then, it works perfectly! This is really weird as its the same
package (mine) I was using in the first place.

I really don't know what to think anymore...
I did not even purge my configuration in the install/desinstall process,
i kept it all the way.

Any idea of what could have caused that?
How come the problem is gone!?
