Hello! I would like to request a new mailing list to discuss the use and packaging of mathematics software in Debian. Name: debian-math Rationale: There is a wide variety of mathematics software in Debian, including an entire section of the archive [1]. Currently, however, there is no mailing list to discuss mathematics software specifically. Existing lists are either too general (e.g., debian-science [2]) or too specific (e.g., debian-science-sagemath [3]). Such a list could serve as a way for users and developers of mathematics software in Debian to communicate with one another, and in particular members of the new proposed Debian Math Team [4]. Short description: Using Debian for mathematics and related research Long description: Discussion of issues relating to the use of Debian for mathematics research, including useful packages, particular problems faced by mathematician using Debian, how to make Debian more useful to mathematicians, etc. Category: Developers Subscription Policy: open Post Policy: open Web Archive: yes Thank you!
