addrwatch is a tool similar to arpwatch. It monitors the network for ARP, ICMPv6 Neighbor Discovery, and ICMPv6 Duplicate Address Detection messages, and logs the discovered IP and Ethernet address pairs. I use addrwatch across a dozen or so machines to log IPv4 address and Ethernet address association changes (this is exactly the functionality of arpwatch). However, addrwatch also provides similar monitoring functionality for IPv6 address and Ethernet address association monitoring using ICMPv6 Neighbor Discovery -- this functionality is missing from arpwatch. ndpmon provides the NDP monitoring functionality, but is not available in bullseye -- it also does not provide ARP monitoring functionality. addrwatch seems to be a better tool for dual-stack networks. I plan to seek sponsorship for this package.
