Lowered severity to minor because the information so far indicates the bug may only affect a limited set of hardware/software combinations. It does affect my system, but I have found a solution for it in accord with the Debian principles of free software.
I understand the free software development world cannot stop everything it is doing to work on this little bug. Nevertheless, if Debian wishes to try to implement a true and full solution that fixes both this bug and #991976, I am willing to cooperate with anyone who will not accuse me of wrongdoing in this public forum without first discussing the matter with me in a private email.
