The gnump3d bug never affected me ("what is gnump3d?"), but I somehow
stumbled upon it and noticed the s-s-d message, which I filed against
udev, since it happened a handful of times there, but now reassign to
dpkg, #352554 merged with #157305. It seems to be a harmless warning.
I don't know whats up with the debconf bit, I think I change was made
to detect if X11 is running or not without dying?
See Joeyh's changelog entry, "Add the same insane kind of fork
check..." for debconf 1.4.72.
I would suggest downgrading to a previous debconf, and running unset
DISPLAY to reproduce :)
