Hi Kent, I believe this bug has been fixed in the experimental gnucash release (1.9.5-1). I have compared LANG=it_IT.UTF-8 and LANG=it_IT.ISO-8859-1 and both display accented characters, even though the Italian translation for gnucash 1.9.x is currently incomplete.
