Perhaps you should add the directory containing `x11.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable Package 'x11', required by 'GDK', not found Note that it doesn't in fact display the necessary -I flags. Consequently, gtk programs that use pkg-config now fail to compile, unless the x11.pc file is present. libx11-dev 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 does not contain this file; version 2:1.0.0-6 does contain the file.
