https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=803523 Regarding the Volume applet, there is a competition between plasma-pa and kmix https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=798504 I had plasma-pm applet deactivated in order to avoid having two mixer applets in the systray. So the origin of the problem on my end was actually that kmix got lost in the upgrade to bullseye, because I had to reinstall KDE, as reported under #981597.
