Subject: xorg: no xfonts-base left after update Followup-For: Bug #362894 Package: xorg Version: 7.0.12
*** Please type your report below this line *** -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-rc2+misdn+v4l Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) yesterday 2006-04-16 I updated from debian unstable and got some new Xorg files. after reboot, no fixed fonts was found by the xserver. In the /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc there was not a single file!! I copied from /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc the whole bunch of *.gz fonts and run update-fonts-alias -7 misc update-fonts-dir -7 misc update-fonts-scale -7 misc I got a line fixed in fonts.alias. Strane enough, the fonts 7x13-ISO8859-1 was not present at all. There was in MISC not a single 8859-1 file, but any other from -2 to -15. Installing xfonts-base healed the situtation. I wonder whether there should not be a dependency of Xorg or the more appropriate files on xfonts-base which would avoid xserver failure! -- Bernhard Kleine mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] linux-user Nr. 411598 **************************************** PGP-Key PGP-Fingerprint: 0x6C1D9C2A 3161 A9E2 B661 A242 D9AF 61BF C842 4D18 6C1D 9C2A ****************************************
