The bug submitter wanted a modification to tar in order to be able to use 7z/LZMA compression transparently as gzip/bzip2 can be used. That is what the patch does. Since it is unlikely that Debian's GNU tar maintainer will apply that patch until it is accepted upstream, the user can be instructed to apply this patch to his local copy of tar instead. -- Ryan Underwood, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
