* What led up to the situation?
For a clean install one of the first actions to perform is analize the CD/DVD
drive. This fails with an error due to a known bug.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Executing the following command will fail systematically:

No error.
It's a known bug [1] and a fix is available [2]. I tested the one-line change
and it works as expected.
Due to the fact that it's an important action to perform with a very easy fix I
think it would be a good idea to back-port it.
