vim alone dependency is perhaps not suffisant to have a full "multiple compilation" handling. According to http://vim-latex.sourceforge.net/index.php?subject=faq&title=FAQ#faq-python-errors python support is suggested for the multiple compilation code. Before installing vim-pyton, I wasn't abled to compile without using a Makefile, especialy with bibtex entries dealing... You should drop a note in the README.Debian or put a Suggests: on vim-python ?
