Dear maintainer, If you must package snapshots instead of releases from upstream, please include the (abbeviated) git commit hash in the Debianized version. Using the current package version of "1.10.0.20201025-1" I am unable to determine which upstream commit this refers to as https://github.com/google/googletest/commits/master has no commits with the date 2020-10-25. Here's a sample command for forming the version number: git log -n1 --date="format:%Y%m%d" --format='format:1.10.0.%cd.git%h' HEAD Or you could add the following to debian/watch version=4 opts="mode=git,pretty=1.10.0.%cd.git%h" \ https://github.com/google/googletest.git HEAD If you're not going to use debian/watch (which is recommend in Debian Policy 4.11 https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#optional-upstream-source-location-debian-watch ) then a 'get-orig-source' target in debian/rules would be appreciated.
