Does this occur in any other GTK2 tree/list where you can rename an element? For example, while using the Chinese IM, go to the "Save As..." dialog and try creating a new folder, and see if Esc cancels the rename or goes right to the input method.

If a Chinese input method is active, the Esc key is used to clear the input area of mistakes and start over. For example, if I want to type "aaaa" and accidentally typed "sss" instead, I can press the "Esc" key to clear the "sss" so that I can type "aaaa" which is what I want.

In Gimp the above cannot be done. For example, if I want to rename a layer:

1. User brings up the layers dialog

2. User double-clicks the layer name

3. User types the new layer name, makes a mistake, and discovers the mistakes
before pressing Space to send the current character

4. User presses Esc (This should only be seen by the input method)

5. Gimp cancels the text input (and user scratches his/her head)
