As a follow up on this issue, the upstream ZFS maintainers have introduced a staging branch for upcoming patch releases. This idea was discussed in a ZFS issue [1], and the staging branch for the upcoming 0.8.5 release is here: https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/tree/zfs-0.8.5-staging
The patch to fix the broken kernel module on ARMv7 has already been backported to this staging branch [2]. However, since it is unclear when the next patch release is gonna happen, I would still like to have this patch include in the current Debian packages.
