You've got a point there. Checked my git history. I maintained wml
above 2.0.x for quite a while (starting in 2012 with 2.2.0) only in
Debian Experimental. A branch named cmake is mentioned in merge
commits at least since mid 2013. And yeah, now I remember again: It
took at least two Debian releases until I was confident enough to
merge the cmake-based WML back into master and Debian Unstable... So
my gut feeling that this fight with cmake was half a decade ago is not
that wrong. :-)
