Thanks for your report. As you wrote yourself, the issue is that
bsdmainutils is providing column in Debian. I'm reassigning this bug
over there, so the bsdmainutils team can decide if they want to stop
shipping column, and util-linux should do it.

FTR: I'm okay with using the util-linux version, but I have not done
a compatibility analysis. Also, util-linux will not ship column
as long as bsdmainutils does.
