Hi John, The next version of vim-editorconfig (1.0.0) won’t require Python anymore (https://github.com/editorconfig/editorconfig-vim/pull/119). I discussed with Michael Fladischer (the original package maintainer) about the upgrade. As soon as the upstream is ready (see https://github.com/editorconfig/editorconfig-vim/issues/143) I will upgrade the package and remove the dependency(ies) no more required (including vim-nox).
