Hi Enrico, I read the bug you reported long time ago about the issue concerning italian translation and bad and malicious behavior of the mc application. I have taken in charge (ITA) mc and I found the solution of your issue:

msgid "&Update"
msgstr "&Aggiorna"
#: src/filegui.c:524
msgid "A&ppend"
msgstr "Atta&cca"
where you can notice that the &c is wrong: "c" character is not uppercase,
it creates confusion withe starting uppercase letter ("A").
Now it will be:
#: src/filegui.c:524
msgid "A&ppend"
msgstr "atta&Cca"
and it seems not to be in conflict with other choises in the same screeen.
I shall provide the bug fix in the following repositories:
deb http://www.stex.name/debian ./
deb-src http://www.stex.name/debian ./
or
deb http://www.openlabs.it/~stex/debian ./
deb-src http://www.openlabs.it/~stex/debian ./
as soon as I am recompiling the deb package.
I shall also provide a deeper overview of the current translation, to
avoid futher (critical) issue.
