I investigated further the issue: After removing /var from the ReadOnlyPaths mails are sent but i still get a strange behavior: mails are not sent immediately, they are queued and processed only when the exim4 queue is recycled (every 30m), then I get the following error: 2020-03-03 20:24:38 1j9D9i-0005L4-8Y Spool error for /var/spool/exim4//input//1j9D9i-0005L4-8Y-D: Permission denied 2020-03-03 20:24:38 1j9D9i-0005L4-8Y Cannot open main log file "/var/log/exim4/mainlog": Permission denied: euid=0 egid=116 exim: could not open panic log - aborting: see message(s) above Commenting out the CapabilityBoundingSet from the service file solves the issue. I did not succeeded in finding the capability to be added for mails to be sent immediately without error. This is an important issue for netdata use cases where alerting is key functionality.
