What about migrating to -9 ?
Upstream has not thoroughly tested their code against llvm-9. So I guess
sticking to llvm-8 would be a good solution for now.
I am not going to spend much more time on -8 as we don't ship the next release
with -8

I believe Julia upstream would bump their llvm dependency to llvm > 8
before debian 11 release.
