* What led up to the situation? Bought a new monitor, a HP Z24i G2 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Plugged monitor in, connected two usb devices onto the monitor hub; namely a HP CCID keyboard and a standard HP laser mouse * What was the outcome of this action? The linux kernel seems to forget the USB HP laser mouse, after monitor went into suspend state and wakes up again * What outcome did you expect instead? Working USB mouse after suspend state of monitor I've connected a new HP Z24i G2 monitor to my Debian/testing system running recent Xorg plus Enlightenment DR17 and encounter the following problem: I've connected two USB devices at the USB version 3 hub of the monitor which works quite fine, a USB CCID keyboard and a standard HP USB laser mouse. But when the HP Z24i G2 monitor wents into suspend state or is turned manually off, the connected USB laser mouse won't work any longer after the monitor has turned to ready state any longer. Try this two or three times and let an hour pass while the monitor is turned off. It is not happening all the time. Workaround: Plug out and plug in again the HP USB laser mouse at the USB 3 hub of the monitor. I assume this is a linux kernel issue and has to do with the kernel implementation of USB hubs.
