Package: debhelper Version: 12.1.1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
while debugging #931985 I notized failure of the invocation of file in
the dh_strip program in the get_file_type function is not properly
caught - the parent process happily continues but records <undef> as the
detected file type. Which by the way triggers some warning messages in
the program later, different story.
So, following the priciple errors should be detected and dealt with
closely to the source, please add an according check right there.
Personally I'd re-write the entire function since it seems a bit overly
complex, but perhaps I just missed the point.
Regards,
Christoph
