ibus-avro lets users type in English and on-the-fly transliterate them phonetically to Bangla.
The tool has been used for quite some years and the code is mature. Upstream maintenance has more or less ceased, but ibus-avro is still a popular tool among Bangla speaking Linux users, and the purpose of this effort to get it into Debian is to make ibus-avro more easily available to users of Debian and its downstream distros.
I will follow up with a URL to the package as soon as I have uploaded it to mentors.debian.net.
