Package: ltsp-server Version: 0.82debian2 Severity: normal Overview Description: unable to ifup lo on a thin client. uncertain if lo is neccessary in a thin client.
running ifup produces ifup: unable to open statefile /etc/network/run/ifstate: No such file or directory /etc/network/run is a broken symlink to /dev/shm/network /dev/shm/network is created from /etc/init.d/ifupdown but this script is not executed during boot of the thinclient a lo interface seams not to be critical in a thin client, but when booting as a diskless workstation from the same chroot you wont be able to use portmapper and nfs mounts will fail. Steps to reproduce: - install ltsp-server version 0.82debian2 - run /usr/sbin/ltsp-build-client to create a sarge chroot in /opt/ltsp/i386 - boot a thinclient or diskless workstation - type ifup lo in a shell on the diskless client Additional Information: workaround mv CHROOT/etc/rcS.d/S39ifupdown CHROOT/etc/rcS.d/S39ifupdown after the next boot of the client you can now ifup lo -- mvh Ronny Aasen -- 41616155 -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Datapart AS -- 57682100 -- www.datapart-as.no --
