Just wanted to pitch in that the bug is still present in kdm 3.5.1-1 in testing where it bit me on a recent upgrade. I tried just about everything: xorg reconfigure, fiddling with console-data et al, no luck. Given that gdm and xdm has keyboard input on reboot, and kdm had it provided I first booted into a tty (ie by commenting out /etc/init.d/kdm and then launching it) indicated a problem with kdm's config. The suggested 'genkdmconf --no-old' does the trick.
It would be nice to get this fixed as it botches (at least some) upgrades. Dirk -- Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something. -- Thomas A. Edison -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
