Maybe American chauvinism on my part -- I'm not used to those
spellings! But no, the truth is that my typo catching code failed --
here's the guilty line:
lynx -dump -nolist -dont_wrap_pre ${TMPFILE}.html | ispell -W $WLEN -n
-l | ispell -l -d
british | sort | uniq --count > $TMPFILE
As you can see, it pipes the text through:
ispell -l -d british
...and should have allowed British spellings. Let's test this with the
latest:
% echo "centimeter centimetre" | ispell -l -d british
centimeter
A surprise, I'd have thought that it might have been missing
from the 'british' dictionary. I checked the 'ibritish' changelog
and BTS circa 1/26/06, but couldn't find any bugs or fixes that would
account for it.
Conclusion: I dunno why it didn't catch 'centimetre' but I'll certainly
be looking to see if this sort of thing repeats.
