Hi,
% pandoc -o output.pdf input.md
pdflatex not found. Please select a different --pdf-engine or install pdflatex
I think this could be improved user-interface wise as pdflatex is
in the "texlive-latex-base" package (and not a hypothetical "pdflatex"
package).
A patch is attached that turns this into:
% pandoc -o output.pdf input.md
pdflatex not found. Please select a different --pdf-engine or install
pdflatex from the texlive-latex-base package
