As maintainer of the Cacti package I have been asked by my upstream developers to make sure that the timezone is set. I explained to them that I can't do that in my package as the PHP configuration is off limits. If I understand the situation correctly (I am not very knowledgeable on PHP) there are multiple functions in PHP nowadays that also complain if the timezone isn't set. Instead of requiring every admin to set the timezone, couldn't the Debian package set the timezone during initial installation to the same timezone as the system has, as a default?
