I experienced this bug on multiple systems with rotating wallpapers. It has been fixed for quite some time.
However, there are new memory leak bugs in KDE. For example, KMail currently causes Akonadi to overwhelm a system (current testing packages). So much so that I had to delete my KMail IMAP account and use Thunderbird if I wanted to keep a system on for more than 24 hours.
