The util-linux man page for mount has always mentioned peculiarities of the various other mount helpers, even though they aren't part of util-linux. I'm not sure whether that has been a debian deviation, but if you think it better to get upstream to adopt such a change first, then the bug should be marked as upstream,forwarded ( and forward the issue to upstream ), not wontfix and closed.
