I just tried to reproduce this and neither in a minimal openbox session
or with a gnome X11 session I could reproduce a crash.
You might probably be able to collect some more information by
installing package systemd-coredump and when a crash happened send the
output of these commands:
coredumpctl gdb
bt
exit
Even better would be if at least the dbgsym package for gnome-terminal
would be installed. Some more information [1].
